Turn sent.

Skull staff is on the way to Mictlan (thats K, right?)
I'm Vanheim.

Edit:
As to the diplomatic situation.
My neighbors offered Vanheim an non agression pact in my weak time, so I feel honor bound to upheld those now.
So I am sorry to gang up on Ashdod, but the people of Vanheim need more provinces to have an chance in the upcomming troubling times.

I tougth about an surprise offensive, but decided against it.
Ashdod may the better God crush all others.

Yep, Ashdod seems to be in pretty serious trouble. Reputedly they're pretty tough, but they're getting hit by too many people to handle.

EDIT: turn sent

Ashdod's biggest weakness, as Frank mentioned, is diplomacy.

You know, I was under the impression that Ashdod's basic troops were kind of decent, but apparently not. Man's infantry tore them up just fine.

Man has superior infantry. I recommend them as a first position to people learning the game precisely because their units are just like the regular indie human infantry but better. Man's infantry, thus, pretty much defines a decent unit, since they are precisely an average unit (indie) with slightly better equipment and/or stats.

As long as you steer well clear of the worthless light cavalry and militia that they mysteriously have on their list, you're fine.

Giants suffer from a problem with offense; with only one guy per square, they face a 3 to 1 attack disparity. So even if they hit, they can only kill one guy. They may be three times as tough as a single infantryman, but they have at best 1.5 times the offense.

Ashdod sorta gets around this with a gore attack, but that doesn't really even the playing field, if you want to see that, then you need to look at the Neifel Giant. They have a massive chill aura, and so they kill enemies by freezing them.

Yeah, I'd actually noticed that their attack numbers kind of limited them. I'd wondered why no one mentioned that. The lighter guys have less of that problem, due to fitting two dudes to a square.

Sorry I broke my NAP, but I said at the time it was a New Years resolution. Who hasn't given up one of those before the year ended?

The PD killers weren't actually my national heavy infantry. Those were indies who make better 2nd-class giant-killers - broadswords, chain hauberks, only 10 gold each. They'd die in swarms before Ashdod's real army though.

Size 4 giants need size 2 humans or size 1 goblins to fill out their ranks IMO.

Attack skill 9 makes them kind shitty about making up that difference. What I would do is recruit some of those humans with spears alternating GhGhGhGh... so that the size 4 giants and the size 2 humans fill the same square.

Yeah, the earth bless for survivability is critical on the big dudes. Hinnom brings a chariot to the table to carve up grunts.

And there goes most of a year's worth of crafting. I'm gonna try and build up a bunch of Lanterns, then shoot for artifacts. If this game goes to year 4, there should be some ridiculous stuff I'll be able to send out.

Looks like Man combined their stacks on that fort.

I'm surprised Ashod is having any trouble at all. Those high-end Blessed giants are epic. Did he invest in his lesser and sucky giants?

He is being attacked from 2 sides, and had approximately zero military units on his manward front. And Ermor's main army has approximately 400 longdead horsemen and a shitload of mages in it. Though it looks like he lost about 100-200 units last turn.

Generically: I want to buy research boosters (lots), air boosters and some dwarven hammers.

I have large piles of astral and death gems, and a more modest pile of air gems.

PM me with bids, specifying what you're selling and what you want for it, and or skeletal receptionist will contact you (24/7 hours, 365 days a year)

My capital is in a resource-poor position, so my big 'ol badass giants are in unfortunately short supply.

The part I don't understand is how people are talking about Bashanites. The secondary armies of Ashdod are made out of Amorites, Gileadites, and like wolf tribe archers or something.
